July Update

Update: I got book 3 of Star Commandos July 12 so I started it.  I'm slowly reading it as I'm also started Kindle Vella serials. So don't know when I'll get to another book.

Finished the two Star Commando books. We didn't have internet for 3 days so I read. What else is there to do when there's no social media to mess with?

If you want good action sci-fi you should try Star Commandos by P.M. Griffin. I don't love the reissue covers. I much prefer the old trade paperback covers. Both are available.

But now I'm not in the mood to read Henri.

So I'm going to look through my ebook TBR list and see what grabs me.

June Update

Finished Stone Cold Cyborg.

Downloaded the rest of the Magebreakers series as well as a few book 1s. My ebook TBR list is getting longer. I also got two paperback books to add to my physical TBR list. I do love the feel of a book in my hand sometimes. Well actually I'd have a huge library if I had the room.

Started on the Case Files of Henri Davenforth Book 1. So expect an review on it soon.

Or maybe not.

I just got my hard copy of Star Commandos book 1. This series is being reissued with editorial changes. As one of my favorite sci-fi series I'm going to be re-reading them. I'm already 100 pages in. So Henri is just going to have to wait.

Cyborg Force-Sci-fi Romance

Cyborg Force series by Cara Bristol

Maelstrom

4 star

I won this ebook in one of Cara's giveaways.  It is the 4th book in the series. But as I said before I read whatever book gets my attention whether it's the first or the seventh.

I know Cara from one of my writing groups which is why I followed her. I normally don't do romance--unless it is paranormal. So I decided to try Sci-fi Romance.

Sandy is a pawn in her mother's political and criminal maneuvers. C-Force kidnaps her to use her to stop her mother's latest scheme and bring her to justice. The couples from the other three books made an appearance as well.

I enjoyed the book but I probably won't read the others. I read the blurbs and they just didn't grab me like this one did soo...

I also have her novella Stone Cold Cyborg. I'm going to read it next.

A Jot

Update: May 25--Finished Magebreakers 2.

After I read Always Faithful, I decided to catch up with some of my series. So first up was the Jazzi Zander series Book 10 which just came out and I read it in two days. Book 2 of the Magebreaker series is up next but after that I'm unsure what I'm going to read.

So I don't know if I'll do some more catch up books or a series starter for May.

I've also been working on my WIP.

Jerry McNeal series

Jerry McNeal series by Sherry A Burton

Always Faithful

4 Star

This is a paranormal murder mystery with a ghost, a ghost dog to be exact. And this particular prequel novella introduces you to Jerry McNeal, a man with a very special gift. He became a state trooper so he could use his gift to help people.

The prologue didn't WOW me, but the first chapter was good so I kept reading. I enjoyed this prequel enough that it interested me in wanting to read the next book to see if I'll like the whole series or not. If I do it will be another book series to add to my ever growing TBR list.

Magebreakers series

Magebreakers series by Ben S. Dobson

The Flaw in All Magic

4.5 Stars

I love this book but I think I'm suffering a bookhangover from the last book so I just couldn't give this a 5. It's a very good fantasy book but I'm stuck in UF land. However none of the UFs in my TBR list grabbed me. This did. Which is why I read it so fast after my March book.  I was in the mood to read and this hooked me and kept me reading.

In this world Magic is persecuted/frowned upon in all countries but the Protectorate. There are every imaginable magical/mystical creature/beings populating this world but not all of them have magic. The Protectorate however is mostly comprised of Magical people and has a University dedicate to teaching magic.

The main MMC is magicless but had fooled the University into believing he did. He was expelled but he managed to make a small living as a magical consultant. Then an impossible murder happened at the University and he was called in. There he met the main FMC who was one of the campus guard(and a non-magical Orc) They combine their talents and go after the murderer.

The rest of the books of this 5 book series is in my TBR list now. I will read them as I have the money and time.

D'Accio Investigations series

 D'Accio Investigations by R. D. Chapman

At Any Cost

5 Star

This book is the first and only book out so far but I loved it. It does switch POV from 1st person to 3rd person a little over half way through but I was so invested that I didn't care. I look forward to more books by this author with this MC. The MC was well rounded and 'human' and the pace was just right.

In this world most of the people are shifters. However the MC is a Zero, or a Zero plus to be exact. He is not a shifter, but his senses, reflexes, and strength is stronger than a normal Zero. His wish was to be in Law Enforcement but he was turned away from every one so he became a private investigator.

He is hired to find an Heiress socialite who disinherited her family and became a recluse on her boat. OF course he found her. However he hadn't expected to fall in love with her.   But it wasn't to last, she was murdered in a hail of bullets. The rest of the book is him seeking justice for her.

I plan to read any other books that come out in this series as they come out. I was sad to finish this book because I enjoyed it so much but was satisfied very much with the ending. AS I said I look forward to more books about this MC and this world.
