February Update

It's my birth month and I'm still in the re-reading zone.

Next reread is my Diane Fallon Forensic Investigation series. I got three of the books I like the most. The whole series is good but I generally only keep the books I like the most on ebook or regular books. I don't have much physical space and I hate to pay more than $3.99 for an ebook so I only get the 'best' of the best.

January Update 2

I finished reading the Gideon Oliver series.

Or at least the ones I have. I don't always keep the whole series, just the ones I like the most and re-read them when I get in this mood.

Now I've started the Jazzi Zanders series again and I've got all of them 'cause I loved each one.  I skipped the first book though and started with the second. What can I tell you I just wasn't in the mood for the first one...

here's the link if you're interested in seeing what I'm reading

January Update

I've been re-reading my Gideon Oliver books.

I've been restless and really not in the mood to read any of the books on my TBR list so I went to some old favorites. I'm over my fanfic obsession for now and want to get back into my TBR pile.  But nothing struck me so I'm doing some re-reading.

Here is the link to the series page if you want to see what I'm reading.

December update

Not been doing much book reading. So I'm still on Hollowntown Homicide.

But I've been in a mood for Fanfiction. When I get in these moods to read it, I just do until I get tired of it. Then I go back to books. So I been fanboying my favorite shows.

However I have added to my ebook TBR list. So I have more to read once I get back to book reading. 😂

November Update

 I'm reading a new series.

Book 1 is Hollownton Homicide. Just started it so don't have much to say yet.

But I did get book 2. So you know it interests me enough so far to get the next book.

I'll add the particulars here as soon as I'm done with book 1.

IT's Spooky Season--October

While I've read some Steven King and various other 'horror' writers, I really don't read horror that much nor care to. Horror movies on the other hand are a whole different story.  Soo...

In honor of my favorite spooky season I’m writing a bit about my favorite horror movies. Some you will have heard of, but some you will have probably not. I watched a lot of horror and sci-fi movies during the 80’s and 90’s. I don’t think I missed any to tell the truth. If it was out on VHS, I watched it.

My number one top favorite is one called simply enough ‘Playroom’. It stared Christopher McDonald as an archeologist plagued by a nightmare in which his family was murdered. His parents were murder when he was a child at an archeology site where they were all staying. As the movie goes along you find out ‘Chris’ had an imaginary friend named Daniel that he played with while his parents worked. Chris starts remembering things and gets obsessed with finding the hidden room. And you find out that Daniel may not have been imaginary. I love this movie but it is only available on VHS and my copy was lost in a move. I can’t bring myself to buy a VHS copy when I don’t have a VCR and don’t plan to get one. But it is still my favorite and always shall be because it hit me in the heart at the end.

My number one favorite psychological horror is Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. All four of them. I do not have them right now, lost in another move. But they are on my list to rebuy. I love Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates. I just couldn’t get into the tv series. But the movies are great and I can watch them over and over again.

My number one slasher is Friday the 13th. Jason is the man. However if you’re going to watch them I advise you to skip 5 & 9. And I only watched 10 because Jason in Space, come on. ðŸ™‚ I have a special edition of 1-8 with wonderful extras and the Crystal Lake Memories: Complete history of Friday the 13 2- DVD edition. I used to have the edition of His Name Was Jason, but alas it was lost in a move. This Friday the 13th I’m doing a marathon.

There is one other movie I’d like to mention. it is my second favorite horror movie. Blood Clan. In the past, a family is executed by soldiers for cannibalism – except for the little girl, Katy Bane McKay. She is adopted by Judge Mackay and goes home with him to Canada, where she grows up with no knowledge of her family’s past. Then, in the present, several deaths occur and people begin to think it’s Katy Bane McKay. After all — blood will out. This one hits me in the heart too. And alas it too is only available in VHS. Lost too in a move.

That these movies still have an impact on me even though I haven’t seen some of them in a long time show that they should be given at least a watch. Else how can you give an informed opinion on them?

Hope you have a hauntingly good spooky season.

September's updated update :)

Got Mercedes Lackey's Foundation, Book 1 of the founding of the Collegium around the 10th.

After I read the Museum books I grabbed it to reread. Read it in two days.

I unfortunately don't have the others but I'll get them again sometime. The first time I read the Valdemar series I had the books from the library. Loved it. I love all the Valdemar books but a few stand out more to me. And this founding of the Collegium is one. Another is Exile's Honor, Exile's Valor.

I have started reading Exile's Honor again. I don't have Valor anymore. One of my cousins took it just like they did The Vampire Lestat and I never saw either again. Not to mention I had to sell/get rid of a lot of my books when I moved because I didn't have space. I had to get rid of dvds as well. Sacrilege it was.

So I'm recommending Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar series books. They are excellent books.

Once I'm done with Exile's Honor I'll go through my TBR list again and see what captures my attention. I have soo many books, mostly ebooks now to read but some physical ones.

Stay tuned
